Set Unit Marked
Black Marks from Single-Stage Snowblower blades?
I have a new Toro Model 33889 Single-Stage Snow Thrower. I set it up and tested it in the garage on the bare concrete floor. When I engaged the rotor blades and the unit moved forward, it left a set of black lines on the garage floor as the rotor blades contacted the floor. My question is: will the unit leave these marks on my driveway when I use to to clear snow? I have a new driveway of medium-brown pavers, and I’d like to be sure that I won’t wind up with black marks on the pavers.
When you run the unit in the snow there should be enough slip provided by the snow and ice to reduce or eliminate the markings. However, depending on how deep the grooves are between pavers you may catch the paddle blades on them. Single stage machines are designed to make contact with the pavement. If this isn’t acceptable to you return the machine and buy a small two stage and set a small gap at the scraper bar.
